A Little Liberty Hill History
Liberty Hill got its name from an 1853 postmaster, William Oliver Spencer, who suggested it himself. The town actually moved twice in its early years, chasing the post office and stage stop, before settling near what’s now State Highway 29. It stayed a small farming community for well over a century, never topping 500 people through 1990. Then growth hit: 1,409 people in 2000, 3,646 by 2020, and over 10,000 today. A very different town than it was twenty years ago.
